About Jerry

Jerry Tsao, the founder of District Cooper, is a Washington, D.C.-based photographer, father, and husband. His journey into photography is deeply personal, rooted in the curated photo albums of his childhood spent in Paris. These cherished family albums remain a centerpiece of his home today, serving as a constant reminder that photographs are more than just images—they are a way to re-experience memories across generations.

Inspired by these tangible connections to the past and encouraged by friends, Jerry picked up a camera to create thoughtful and purposeful memories. His work at District Cooper focuses on capturing authentic, lifestyle-oriented moments for families and the local community, ensuring that today's stories become the heirlooms of tomorrow.

What I love about photography is the ability to capture emotions of the day using both classic editorial and photojournalistic styles. There is a delicate balance between capturing precise guided shots and capturing the natural movements of the day. Retelling stories through authentic photos is what makes it special.

Let’s chat and start our journey to capturing your significant moments.
